Why does a baby have hair loss? There are a few reasons why a baby might lose hair.
Some babies may lose hair because of a medical condition, like Alopecia Areata.
This is a rare condition that causes the entire body to lose hair, usually starting in the scalp.
Alopecia Areata is usually treated with medication and regular hair treatments.
Other babies may lose hair because of rapid growth – during the first few months of life, a baby’s hair follicles are growing rapidly and may not reach their full potential.
This can lead to Hair Loss. Finally, some babies lose hair because of normal wear and tear – during the first few months of life, a baby’s scalp is very sensitive and can be damaged easily by everyday friction, like wearing a hat or being cradled in the arms lot.
Any of these reasons can be mild or severe, and can last for a short period of time or for the entire lifetime of the baby.
It’s important to talk to your doctor if you’re concerned about your baby’s hair loss.
